Eh? I live in a flat/ am too ill with ME/can’t grow anything to save my life/can’t really be bothered!
Then it would be great if you could still make a donation towards HFWME and join in the fun of criticising other people’s growing efforts on the “Sunflowers for ME” Facebook group .
Can’t I just use some seeds I’ve already got?
Sorry, no. To give everybody a fair chance, all the seeds should come from the same source, so we will provide them. It’s also possible, though I make no assumptions, that your seeds may turn out to be the wrong colour...
How do I submit my results and claim my prize?
Please email Linda with a photo of your tallest sunflower, preferably with you standing/sitting next to it if you’re happy for your face to appear on Facebook/ in the newsletter. Please give details of measurement of height in centimetres from soil level to tip of highest petal. Similarly, if you would like to enter a picture of a handmade sunflower, please send in a photo of it, details as above.
Can my kids and I enter as a family?
Of course! Just please be aware that if your child should win, their photo will be posted on the competition group’s Facebook Timeline.
Do you really want me to send in a pic of my dismal attempt?
You bet! They're the fun part!
SUNFLOWER COMPETITIONS – FINAL INSTRUCTIONS
Tallest/Smallest Sunflower Comp – Closing date 30th September
The main prize is for the tallest sunflower but there will also be a prize (a wooden spoon) for the smallest flowering sunflower / most dismal attempt, so please send in you photos even if they are apparently ridiculous and you didn’t manage to grow anything! ALSO AVAILABLE: a commendation for the photo showing the most cheeky and outrageous cheating!
Please be sure to send:
1) A photo of your sunflowers(s)
2) Measurements in centimetres,
3) Any daft info, like what you called your sunflowers and funny anecdotes etc
5) Any other info that you can think of that could help you clinch the prestigious ‘Tournesol d’Or’ (golden sunflower) trophy.
Please note that your results and photo will be posted on Facebook and in the newsletter after the winners are announced.
PLEASE DON’T announce your height or if you have won on Facebook as Linda will do it after the winner is announced.
Arty-Crafty Comp – Closing date 30th September
Please be sure to send in:
a) A photo of anything you have made, on the theme of sunflowers (painting/drawing/ poetry/beading/embroidery/printing/woodwork etc
b) If you win, you will be contacted to arrange what £5 gift voucher you would like.
Please note that your photo will be posted on Facebook and in the newsletter after the winner is announced.
These entries will be judged by a rabble of HFwME members at a convenient Branch meeting or chillout event after the closing date. HFwME accepts no responsibility for their bad judgement or taste.
PLEASE DON’T post your completed craft photos on Facebook as no nobbling of judges will be allowed (well not much anyway) and Linda will do it after the winner is announced. "Can you guess what it is yet" photos are fine.
